Saxmundham

Saxmundham is an historic Market Town on the old Coaching Route from London, and retains a Georgian and Victorian appearance. You can walk the Town Trail to learn about Saxmundham’s past and see glimpses of a bygone era such as the pretty Grade II Listed houses in Angel Yard and the old water pump in the Market Place.

Today, Saxmundham is a friendly little town welcoming visitors. In and around the High Street there is a range of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants plus two supermarkets - Tesco and Waitrose. The town also has two Art galleries and a local history Museum

Saxmundham has its own railway station, giving easy access to popular towns to the north and south of the region for relaxing car-free days out in Suffolk. If you’re planning to travel to Saxmundham by train, there are connections to major routes such as London and The Midlands from Ipswich. For train-times and tickets go to:  https://www.thetrainline.com/stations/saxmundham

In the Town you’ll find... a Post Office, Bank and two ATM Cashpoint machines; a Pharmacy, pet shop and a Vet. Maps, guide books and postcards of Suffolk can be bought from Crisps the well-stocked Stationers, and logs from the hardware shop - Fishers.  For bicycle accessories or repairs Sax Velo are very knowledgeable and helpful. The Angling Centre also sells bait, and can give advice on where best to fish at different times of year. The town's traditional butchers sells locally-reared meat plus delicious pies and sausages made on the premises. If your trip is to celebrate a special occasion, the very talented and efficient ladies at Bethany Rose the florists can make up a beautiful bouquet for you (and will deliver to the Cottages too).

The Bakery van and fresh fish stall are in Fromus Square once a week. Our Street Market is on Wednesdays, and we have a Farm Shop just 1 mile out of town.

There are several EV (Electric Vehicle) Charging Points in the Library car park, just a couple of minutes walk.
