Walking

With it’s gently undulating terrain, Suffolk is ideal for walkers.

The Suffolk Heritage Coastal region is a fantastic place to explore on foot, and walking is probably the best way to experience everything and appreciate this area of outstanding natural beauty – whether you…

  • head off along the shoreline of the unspoilt coast to see where it takes you,
  • follow a fixed route across the countryside using the Public Footpaths,
  • take a Guided Walk with a Warden around Dunwich Heath,
  • or just stroll around some of the pretty villages.

We make Walkers very welcome at all of our Holiday Cottages, and provide extra items and facilities to help you to enjoy your walks in Suffolk during your stay here. For more information on this, go to the Tourist Board Accreditation & Awards page or the pages for the individual Holiday Cottages: Chapel Cottage, Flint Cottage, Corner Cottage.

SC&H (Suffolk Coasts & Heaths) have produced a series of Guides for walkers – including riverside walks, coastal paths, routes which take you across heaths or around marshes, walks through towns and villages, Public Footpaths through woodland areas or open countryside, special Nature Trails, and ‘circular walks’ (from 2 to 9-miles) which start and end at a traditional Suffolk pub – where you can enjoy a hearty lunch of local food and Ales.

There are routes suitable for all levels of interest and ability, so whether you’re a serious long-distance walker or just fancy a short stroll in some beautiful countryside, there’s bound to be something suitable.

Let us know which of these Walks you’d like to try out for yourselves, and we can arrange for a printed copy of each Walkers’ Guide to be at your chosen holiday cottage on your arrival.  Simply select from the Guides below, and email us your choice(s)…
